Currently the Caldwell Police Department has 65 officers to serve a population of 51,686 (2015 census) and is looking for qualified candidates that would like a career in law enforcement. Pay and Benefits

Starting pay is $17.31 per hour; self sponsors and graduates of POST, lateral transfers and officers with a Basic Certificate is $18.28 per hour. Basic certificate plus two or more years is $19.37 per hour. Benefits include longevity pay, certificate pay for intermediate and advanced POST certificates, uniform allowance, paid vacation, 10 paid holidays per year, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.

Testing and Requirements

Testing for Patrol Officers consists of a written test, physical fitness test, polygraph, psychological exam, and a thorough background investigation. Applicants for Patrol  will be administered a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and a written test of basic knowledge on the day of testing. The PFT complies with IDAHO POLICE STANDARDS AND TRAINING (POST) fitness requirements.
