Welcome to the Caldwell Street Department where our mission is to maintain safe driving conditions within the City of Caldwell, city limits. Our purpose is to respond to public concerns of safety hazards and to ensure proper signage of streets and roadways. These responsibilities include maintenance of drains, street & traffic signs, bridges, signal lights, alleys, sweeping of streets, chip-sealing to ensure better road quality, winter snowplowing, and sanding.

New Traffic Signage or Pavement Markings Policy

Any new first time traffic control signage or pavement markings that were not pre-existing must be approved through the Traffic Commission. Once approval is granted, the Street Department will be instructed to install. For more information about the Traffic Commission, call 455-3011.

Snow Plowing Policy

The primary responsibility of the City Street crews is to attempt to mitigate hazardous driving conditions due to inclement weather to areas and facilities of town that will benefit the highest number of our driving public within the capabilities of personnel and equipment available. Street Banner Policy

The City of Caldwell Street department - by request - installs and posts over-the-street banners for promotion and announcement of public events. A copy of the Banner Policy and Specifications may be obtained from the City Clerk, located at 411 Blaine Street or click here to download a copy. Banners are to be constructed according to the specifications the City has set. There is a fee of a minimum of $400.00 per banner for the posting and removing of a banner for all parties, except government and non-profit entities.

Street Lights: Contact the Street Department at 455-3072, for repairs and outages of residential street lighting or questions concerning street lights.

Traffic Signals: The City of Caldwell Street Department maintains all signal lights in Caldwell City limits with the exception of signal lights on Cleveland & Blaine Streets. All signals on Cleveland & Blaine streets are maintained by the State of Idaho. You may contact the State of Idaho at 334-8338.

Street Signs and Traffic Signs: Report all missing or damaged street and traffic signs within the Caldwell City limits to the Street Department at 455-3072 or click here to report on-line. Stop Signs: After hours contact the Caldwell Police Department 454-7531. 

 Sidewalks – New or Repair: Contact the Engineering Office at City Hall, 455-3006, or click here to be taken directly to the Engineering's LID section of our website where this information is provided.




Seal coating / Chip sealing

Sealcoating/Chipsealing: Beginning May 17, until June 30, 2010, subject to weather conditions, the Caldwell Street Department will be performing street maintenance, such as sweeping, flushing, patching, and sealcoating. Sealcoating will begin June 8, 2010. Please watch for trucks, rollers, other heavy equipment, and flagging personnel directing traffic. "No Parking" signs will be posted on streets to be sealcoated.  All vehicles and  inoperative vehicles, boats, trailers, etc. must be removed from the street as soon as possible when the "No Parking' signs are posted. If not removed from the street they will be towed at owners' expense. Sealcoating will be performed in the areas on the attached map highlighted in green. Click here to view map. In addition to the map, the following streets will be sealcoated - 10th from Ustick to Homedale, Homedale from Lake to Midway, Ustick from Middleton Rd. to Santa Ana.
