CDBG Documents of interest for the coming 2017-2018 budget year: 

 

CDBG Public Meeting Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 6:00pm in the Caldwell Police Department Community Room, 110 South 5th Avenue, Caldwell.  The City will host this public meeting to encourage idea sharing, discussion about prioritizing community needs, and discussion on identifying  opportunities for the City to support fair housing priorities.  CLICK HERE for more information.

A 15-day comment period regarding Caldwell's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for HUD 016 will end at 10 am on Thursday, December 28, 2017.

CDBG in Caldwell, Idaho 

The City of Caldwell recently grew to over 50,000 population and is now eligible to receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds through U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Our initial Consolidated Plan was approved by the City Council on August 1, 2016 and has been submitted to and approved by HUD.

The City of Caldwell has received funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant program. As outlined in the cities Consolidated Plan, a portion of this funding is allocated to a Commercial Building Improvement Program.

Purpose of the Commercial Building Improvement Program:  The City of Caldwell Community Development Block Grant program is providing an incentive opportunity to improve the facades, assist with increased building integrity and help support code violation remediation within the commercial buildings located in Caldwell's Downtown Business Improvement District (B.I.D.)

By enhancing the appearance, health and structural integrity of buildings, the program serves to improve the economic viability of this important downtown commercial area.

Better building aesthetics, health and operation increase property values, improve the marketability of space within the buildings and draw business and residents to the area.

Program Description:  The City of Caldwell Community Development Block Grant program is providing an incentive opportunity to support the creation of new jobs within the Business Improvement District.  The City of Caldwell’s Business Assistance Program for job creation provides grants up to  $20,000 to new and expanding Caldwell businesses for the creation of new, permanent full- time jobs for low/moderate income Caldwell residents.  Below is a link that further outlines and explains this program, as well as income guidelines and an application:
