LATERAL FIREFIGHTER ANNOUNCEMENT
The Caldwell Fire Department is accepting application for a Lateral Firefighter/ EMT eligibility list: there is currently openings for 5 Lateral Firefighter/ EMTs. Candidates are required to be certified by the State of Idaho as an EMT, or National Registry EMT (ability to obtain State of Idaho EMT reciprocity within ninety (90) days from date of hire). Candidates must possess an IFSAC/ Pro Board Firefighter I Certification or equivalent at time of application. It is the responsibility of individuals seeking Firefighter equivalency to provide all of the necessary documentation. The Caldwell Fire Chief shall have the final decision on equivalency.
Interested candidates shall submit a City of Caldwell employment application (with proof of State of Idaho EMT (or NREMT and be able to satisfy Idaho EMS requirements), and IFSAC Firefighter I / Pro Board (or equivalent documentation). Applications submitted without proof of EMT and IFSAC Firefighter I/Pro Board, or equivalent documentation, will not be considered. Applications MUST BE RECEIVED by the City of Caldwell HR Department, 411 Blaine Street, Caldwell ID 83605; no later than 3:00pm MOUNTAIN TIME on January 25, 2019. Application received after this time by the HR Department will NOT be considered.
Minimum Required Experience:
1-year current experience as a full time career firefighter/EMT, or three (3) years consecutive experience as a volunteer and/or Part time firefighter/EMT, or equivalent experience to be determined by the Fire Chief. All experience must have been obtained within the last three (3) years. Any equivalent experience shall be approved by the Fire Chief.

Caldwell Firefighters are represented by Local 1821, and as such wages and benefits are as described in the Collective Labor Agreement. Currently, first year Firefighter/EMT’s are paid $15.49/hour, based on the contracted 2912 hour per year which equates to an estimated base wage of $45,107. Along with the yearly wages other benefits include: NWFF health insurance, longevity, 401K match, certification pay, and college degree incentive.
