Job Summary/Qualifications: The City of Caldwell has an opening for a Fire Prevention Officer to provide support to the Caldwell City Fire Department and Fire Marshal’s Office. Individual assists the Fire Marshal in the tasks and operation of the Fire Prevention Division of the Caldwell Fire Department and Caldwell Rural Fire Protection District; performs related work as assigned or required. Subject to a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
Acceptable Experience and Training: Graduation from high school or GED; and Minimum of one (1) year of fire protection and/or firefighter related experience; and Current and valid State of Idaho Fire Inspector Certification or other recognized inspector certification (i.e. International Code Council - Fire Inspector I); or Associates degree in Fire Science or related field (Preference will be given to candidates with applicable fire service experience and/or coursework or a degree in Fire Science.); and Current and valid ICC or NFPA certification as Fire Inspector I & II; or Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Special Qualifications: Passing score on a written exam relating to fire prevention. Successful completion of an assessment center and oral interview. Current and valid State of Idaho Fire Inspector Certification (ability to obtain such certification within six (6) months of appointment to position). Current and valid Idaho SFMO Inspector Card and an ICC or NFPA Fire Inspector I & II Certification.
