Once completing the hiring process, the new recruits must complete a 16 week Fire Academy. Vigorous training and classroom work is conducted to ensure that the recruits are fully prepared to face the everyday challenges of a firefighter, including intense work hardening physical fitness.

Emergency scenarios are conducted to simulate real life events that will be faced once the recruits graduate and are assigned to a shift. There are written and simulated tests throughout the academy that must be passed in order to proceed to graduation.

Training does not end at graduation, recruits and all firefighters have continuous training to ensure the highest standards in safety are enforced.
