Supervisor of the Year 2013

I’m Lieutenant Riley with the Caldwell Police Department.  I have been married for 19 years and have 2 children.

In 1997, the City of Caldwell hired me to work at O’ Connor Fieldhouse where I was a maintenance worker for four years.  In March of 2001, I was fortunate enough to be hired at the Caldwell Police Department as a Code Enforcement Officer.  I worked in that position for six months until I was sent to the Police Officer Standards and Training Academy (POST) in July of 2001.  Once I graduated POST, I worked as a patrol officer for just over a year before becoming a detective in the Investigation division.   I worked as a school resource officer for six years and was assigned to the Caldwell School District. During those six years some of the most enjoyable time was when I coached boys and girl’s basketball and track.  My passion was working with kids, but realized I had passed up too many promotion opportunities and wanted to advance my career.  After many years as a juvenile detective, I tested for a Corporal position and was successfully promoted. After this promotion, I got to go back to the Patrol division where I was a Corporal for four years.  When a Sergeants position opened, I interviewed and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Shortly after my promotion to Sergeant on the Patrol division, a Lieutenant position opened up.  After an intense testing process, I was once again fortunate enough to get the position.

In my personal life, I enjoy golfing with my son, camping with my family, shopping with my daughter, and attending my children’s sporting events.

Employee of the Year 2013

I am Officer Farnsworth.  I was born and raised in the Treasure Valley.  I am one of seven children in my family.  I have been married to my wife Jill for thirteen years.  We have been living in the city of Caldwell since 2001.  I served a two year LDS mission in West Virginia and Virginia at age 19 and have enjoyed many opportunities to serve in church callings since then.  I have spent several years serving in the community with Boy Scouts of America and other youth groups and youth camps.  I enjoy exploring Idaho’s back country and most outdoor related activities with my spouse.

I started working construction at age 12 and continued in that field of employment in one form or another until five years ago when I became an officer for the Caldwell Police Dept. January of 2009.  I worked in the Patrol Division for approximately four and one half years with opportunities to serve as Field Training Officer to several of Caldwell’s finest.  I joined the TRT Containment team in 2010 and was selected as a SWAT member in January 2011.  I was selected as a Firearms Instructor in November of 2012 and serve as an armorer for CPD.

I was selected as a School Resource Officer in spring of 2013 and started working at Jefferson Middle School fall of 2013.  I also serve as SRO for Washington, Wilson, and Lewis and Clark elementary schools.  I enjoy working with Caldwell’s youth who will be the future of our community.

I have profound respect for our founding fathers and those who have sacrificed much if not ALL to protect our God given rights.  I regard my opportunity to serve my community, by helping protect and maintain those rights, to be a great honor.
