Lt. Hoadley began his career with the Caldwell Police Department in 2001 when he was hired as a Community Service Officer. He later transferred to a position as a Code Enforcement Officer before being sworn in as a full time patrolman in 2002.  He worked as a patrol officer until 2004 when he was assigned to the newly created Street Crimes Unit as an Investigator focusing on gang and street level drug enforcement.  He also spent a year assigned to a DEA drug task force in 2005.

While working in SCU, he was promoted to Corporal in 2006 and then again to Sergeant in 2008.  In 2012, he transferred back to the patrol division where he was eventually promoted to Lieutenant in 2016 and currently serves as one of two Division Commanders. 

Lt. Hoadley is a certified Idaho POST instructor on the topics of Criminal Gang Enforcement & Documentation, Drug Identification and Drug Investigations. He has also testified as a court certified gang expert in both State and Federal criminal prosecutions and is also a published author on the topic. 

During the course of Lt. Hoadley’s career with CPD, he has obtained his Advanced Idaho POST certification, served as a Field Training Officer and teaches as an adjunct instructor for the College of Western Idaho’s law enforcement program.

Lt. Hoadley was awarded “Officer of the Year” in 2004 and also “Supervisor of the Year” in 2007 and 2015.  While supervising the Street Crimes Unit, his team was named the Northwest’s “Gang Unit of the Year” in 2008.  He has also received 3 Life Saving medals along with a Commendation Medal from Nampa Police Department for his assistance in solving a homicide in 2015.

Lt. Hoadley was born and raised in Caldwell.  He attended Caldwell High School where he played baseball and graduated in 1998 before attending the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls.  He later returned to Caldwell where he still lives to this day.

Investigation Division

The Investigation Division is broken into three teams:

  • SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER UNIT
    • The School Resource Officer Unit is comprised of police officers that work in school. They have roles as police officers, teachers, and counselors. They investigate crimes that happen in the schools and crimes that are committed by students. In the summer the resource officers are assigned to Bike Patrol
  • Criminal Investigations Unit
    • The Criminal Investigations Unit is comprised of police officers who investigate homicides, assaults, sex crimes, crimes against children, check fraud, forgery, cyber/ computer crimes, and consumer fraud
  • STREET CRIMES UNIT
    • The Street Crimes Unit is comprised of police officers that focus enforcement on street level drug traffickers, violent offenders, and criminal street gang members.
