Swift Arrests in Armed Robbery
Published on January 07, 2026
The Caldwell Police Department has arrested two juveniles in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on January 1 near 15th Avenue and Blaine Street.
Patrol Officers and Detectives were called to investigate the report of a robbery and met with the victim. During the preliminary investigation, it was determined that a car pulled up to the victim as he was walking, and two suspects held a gun in view before taking the victim's Xbox and monitor. In coordination with CPD Patrol and CPD's Real Time Information Center (RTIC), license plate reader technology was searched, and within ten minutes of the crime, the suspect vehicle was identified.
Later that same day, the suspect vehicle was located. The driver of the vehicle provided information that led investigators to a juvenile suspect who was located in Nampa and taken into custody by members of Operation Safe Streets (OSS) and Nampa PD's Special Enforcement Team (SET). He was interviewed by detectives and admitted to the robbery, revealing the location of the stolen items and the weapon used.
A search warrant was executed at the juvenile’s home, where the replica handgun used in the robbery was recovered. Investigators later determined the stolen Xbox was placed in the trunk of a vehicle driven by the mother of another juvenile related to the suspect. Using location data from the juvenile's phone, OSS officers located the vehicle and recovered the Xbox. The adult driver was arrested for possession of stolen property. The juvenile also provided the name of his accomplice, another juvenile, who was also arrested.
Due to the quick identification of suspects and the vehicle, evidence was recovered in this case that would normally have been lost. With the license plate reader and live-stream video technology deployed throughout the City of Caldwell, only two enforcement stops were needed during the follow-up investigation. Compared to traditional policing practices, this technology allows officers to strategically focus on the offenders directly linked to the crime, reducing unnecessary contact with the public and minimizing the policing impact on our community.
CPD commends agency partnerships, teamwork, and dedication that led to the swift resolution of this case. The collaborative efforts highlighted in this case were instrumental in quickly identifying the suspects and recovering stolen property on the same day of the incident.
