Pretreatment

Overview
A pretreatment program implements the National PreTreatment Standards set forth by federal regulations 403, to control pollutants that can interfere with the water treatment process, and ultimately harm our residents and our environment. Commercial and Industrial facilities implement pretreatment plans to remove harmful pollutants before they arrive at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
History
The City of Caldwell Pretreatment Program was formed in 1983 to enforce the Industrial Pretreatment Standards set forth in The Clean Water Act and the General Pretreatment Regulations for Existing and New Sources of Pollution, for the protection of our environment, and the valued residents that enjoy it.
The Caldwell Pretreatment Program meets these standards by helping local industries understand the applicable city codes and federal laws that regulate the discharge into the City of Caldwell Wastewater System. We guide industrial users how to properly discharge into the public sewer system, and educate them on their impact on the environment.
