Street Sweeping Operations
The City Street Department has three street sweepers that cover the city several times each year.
Seasonal Schedule
Street sweeping is typically performed March – November each year, depending on weather. Sweeping cannot be performed during freezing conditions because the water systems in the sweepers may freeze. During the winter months, our team rebuilds and maintains the mechanical components that wear out throughout the season.
Sweeping Zones
The city is divided into 15 sweeping zones serviced by three sweeper operators (see the map). When uninterrupted, our crew can sweep every zone in approximately six weeks and then repeat the cycle.

Potential Delays
At times, operators are diverted from the sweeping schedule to assist with other essential tasks, such as:
- Snow and winter maintenance
- Chip sealing operations
- Pavement repairs
- Debris spills
- Accident cleanup
Help Us Keep Streets Clean
We try to sweep on non-trash pickup days. If this is not possible, we will return as soon as we can to sweep areas that were blocked. You can help by keeping the street in front of your residence clear of:
- Parked cars and trailers
- Overgrown tree branches and shrubs
Report Street Debris
If you see debris in the street—especially if it presents a safety hazard—please report it to the City Street Department at 208-455-3072 or through our website: Report Debris in Street Online Form.
We do our best to respond to all sweeping requests promptly. Thank you for helping us keep our streets clean and safe!
