Just before 10 p.m. last night, the Caldwell Fire Department (CFD) responded to a reported two-alarm structure fire in the 1900 block of Fillmore Street.

Upon arrival, first responders confirmed that the residence had been safely evacuated. The couple inside the home was able to escape along with their dog. Two cats remain unaccounted for at this time.

Fire personnel observed a significant fire concentrated near the rear of the home. CFD crews acted quickly to contain and control the blaze; however, the residence sustained extensive damage and is uninhabitable. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Emergency crews evacuated nearby residents to ensure safety, clearing all surrounding homes as a precaution. All evacuated neighbors were unharmed.

CFD was assisted on scene by crews from the Middleton Star Fire District, Nampa Fire District, Canyon County Paramedics, and the Caldwell Police Department.

Just an hour before, CFD also provided mutual aid to the Nyssa Fire Department for a separate three-alarm commercial structure fire on Commercial Avenue.
