Caldwell Expands Access to Public Information for All Residents
Published on April 22, 2026
The City of Caldwell has added DocAccess by CivicPlus to make public documents easier for residents to read, search, translate, and use on phones, tablets, and computers. The new system will convert documents into accessible HTML. This includes older files that were hard to use before.
DocAccess is built to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards and the Americans with Disabilities Act. It turns PDF files into formats that are easier to search, read, and translate. This includes common public records like meeting agendas, minutes, budgets, plans, ordinances, and other files posted on cityofcaldwell.org.
Residents can use DocAccess to get instant translation in more than 250 languages. They can also ask questions about documents in their own language. The platform works well on mobile devices and can help people read older, handwritten, or scanned documents. For people who need visual help, DocAccess also works with Aira.io, a live visual interpreting service that is free to the public and available 24/7.
Caldwell is a diverse community. About one-third of residents speak a language other than English at home, mostly Spanish. DocAccess will help more families get the information they need.
