The Caldwell Fire Department is joining fire departments nationwide in recognizing Fire Prevention Week, October 5–11. This year’s theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” highlights the importance of educating families about the safe use and storage of lithium-ion batteries, which power many everyday devices. The campaign focuses on best practices for buying, charging, and recycling products that contain these batteries.
Caldwell Fire will extend its fire safety outreach throughout October, visiting nine schools to promote fire prevention awareness and practical safety habits. Reaching more than 2,200 students.
“Our goal is to make fire safety second nature, something kids take home and talk about with their families,” said Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention Alan Perry.
As part of the outreach, Caldwell Fire has partnered with Stella’s Ice Cream for a second year to give all students in the department’s coverage area a free scoop of ice cream when they turn in this year’s lithium-ion battery coloring sheet.
