Lifeguards at Caldwell Memorial Pool are being recognized for their heroic actions after their life saving efforts during a water emergency on Friday afternoon.
At 3:28 p.m., an on-duty lifeguard noticed two children in need of rescue, and two others lifeguards quickly responded to his emergency signal. They pulled the children out and provided CPR prior to emergency responders arriving.
Caldwell Police officers arrived on scene within 90 seconds of dispatch to find that the lifeguards had addressed the emergency in a quick fashion. Caldwell Fire and Canyon County Paramedics arrived moments later and took over medical care. The children were transported to the hospital alive. Out of respect for those involved we are limiting the full details of this incident.
The City of Caldwell commends these lifeguards for their life-saving efforts and their unwavering commitment to public safety. The pool will be closed tomorrow to allow pool staff time to recover from this incident.
