On April 26, just after noon, officers responded to the hospital for a report of a domestic violence incident that had occurred in Caldwell. A plan was formulated to arrest the suspect, 29-year-old Eddy Bravo. After investigating his location, officers were led to a hotel near Interstate 84. While at the location, officers saw Bravo walking east on Hannibal. Officers attempted to approach Bravo, who failed to comply with verbal commands.

After several attempts to verbally de-escalate the situation, Bravo became aggressive and was unsafe to approach. In a further attempt to de-escalate the situation, a less-lethal munition was deployed, striking his left shin. Officers continued to try to verbalize with Bravo to safely surrender himself, but he refused and was advised that a K9 would be deployed. Continued efforts to gain his compliance failed, resulting in a successful K9 deployment and contact. Bravo continued to be combative, including striking the K9 in the face. Medics evaluated Bravo and transported him to a medical center for treatment of his injuries before he was taken to the Canyon County Jail.

Bravo was arrested for felony domestic violence in the presence of a child, no contact order violation, witness intimidation, resisting and obstructing, malicious injury to property, and mistreatment of a police dog. Eddy Bravo was given a five-million-dollar bond on Monday for his charges.

Tomorrow is Denim Day, which raises awareness about sexual and domestic violence and supports survivors. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting abuse and connecting victims with available resources and support services.
