The City of Caldwell will begin a downtown pavement overlay project on April 22, bringing roadway improvements and updated parking configurations to key areas in the downtown core. In addition to pavement improvements, the project will include restriping existing parking stalls and adding new parking stalls near the movie theater. The project will take place in three phases, at the following locations and times (weather permitting):

Phase 1: April 22 – May 8 (No work on May 5, Cinco de Mayo)

5th Avenue (Cleveland to Chicago)

6th Avenue (Cleveland to Arthur)

7th Avenue (Cleveland to Blaine)

Phase 2: April 29 – May 9

Arthur (Kimball to 10th)

Main (Kimball to underpass)

Phase 3: May 11 – May 19

Kimball Avenue (Cleveland to Chicago)

9th Avenue (Cleveland to railroad tracks)

All work will be performed at night, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Roadways will remain open during daytime hours to minimize disruption to businesses, residents, and visitors. To support construction activities, on-street parking will be restricted from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in active work zones. Vehicles left in restricted areas will be subject to towing. The City, in coordination with the Caldwell Police Department, will make efforts to contact vehicle owners in advance. Notifications will be provided, and towing enforcement will begin at 6:00 p.m., allowing ample time for vehicles to be moved.

The City is coordinating closely with the contractor, Nampa Paving, to avoid conflicts with major downtown events, including Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day, to help reduce impacts to local businesses and community activities. The project is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete. City staff is working to ensure downtown businesses and stakeholders are kept informed throughout the project.
