On October 29 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Caldwell Police officers responded to Walmart on Cleveland Boulevard after a caller reported a fight in the parking lot. The caller stated that one individual had been injured and that all parties had left the area.

Upon review of store security footage, officers observed a physical altercation between several individuals during which a knife was used to cut one man, who sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his arm. He was transported by a private vehicle to the hospital for medical treatment.

Through the investigation, officers identified the suspects as two 17-year-old males. Officers responded to a residence connected to the suspects, a known address for gang activity.

After more than an hour, the suspects exited the home and were taken into custody without further incident. The teens are facing aggravated battery, resisting and obstructing officers charges. The suspects are confirmed members of the Brown Pride Sureñogang. Officers also located and arrested 21-year-old Victor Vara, a known fugitive gang member who was inside the residence. He was charged with an outstanding arrest warrant, harboring a fugitive, and resisting and obstructing officers.

We are proud of our Detectives, Patrol Officers, Operation Safe Streets (OSS), our Drone Team, and SWAT for their coordinated efforts in resolving the incident safely and without injury to anyone involved.

“Juvenile gang crime continues to plague communities across our nation. In this case, parenting needs to be closely examined and addressed. It is heartbreaking to watch the future of America being misled and destined for failure. We need to come together as a community and raise our children so that they become productive members of society!” said Rex Ingram, Caldwell Chief of Police.
