Linden Street and Ward Road Intersection to Close for Roundabout

The City of Caldwell will close the intersection of Linden Street and Ward Road beginning Monday, Jan. 5 to start construction on a roundabout. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2026.

There is an update to the detour route. The previous route used KCID Road. The new detour uses Smeed Parkway. The City of Caldwell and the contractor revised the route to align with the detour for the Linden Street and Middleton Road closure for the Highway District 4 roundabout project. “We know a full closure is a big impact for people who use this intersection every day,” said T.J. Frans, project manager. “That is why we have phased construction to shorten the amount of time the intersection is completely closed.”

Construction will take place in phases to reduce the length of full closures:



Beginning January 5: The Linden Street and Ward Road intersection will fully close for a few weeks so crews can build a temporary bypass road connecting Linden to Ward, west of the intersection.



Mid-January to early March: The intersection will be partially reopened, and the bypass will be used for access from the west. Access to and from the east will not be available.



Early March to early April: The intersection will fully close for about one month so crews can build the roundabout and complete major construction activities. There will be no route through the intersection during this time.

During construction, motorists can expect:



The Linden Street and Ward Road intersection will close in phases.



A temporary bypass will connect Linden Street and Ward Road, west of the intersection.



Catalin Drive and Harley Way will remain open.



 Access to schools will remain open from the south (only via the west leg of Linden) and from the north for most of the construction. Access through the Linden and Ward intersection will only be restricted for a short period of time.



 Motorists and pedestrians will be detoured.
