On September 25, at approximately 7:17p.m., a Caldwell Police Officer attempted to conduct a vehicle stop in the area of Linden and Indiana for a traffic violation. The driver, and solo occupant, failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued. Shortly after the pursuit began, the suspect began shooting toward the pursuing officers. The suspect continued to shoot at officers throughout the pursuit, until the suspect got into a traffic collision at Birchwood and Pleasant Ridge. Following the collision, an officer involved shooting occurred and the suspect sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force has been activated, and the Idaho State Police (ISP) are leading the investigation. Further updates will be provided from ISP.
No officers were injured during this incident.
