Three Defendants Sentenced in 2023 Fatal Beating Case

Three individuals charged in connection with a 2023 fatal beating case have accepted plea agreements and were sentenced last week.
Kyle McGinnis received a sentence of 40 years, with a minimum of 25 years to be served before becoming eligible for parole. McGinnis pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter, burglary, and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.
Richard Laine received a sentence of 32.5 years with a minimum of six years to be served before becoming eligible for parole. Laine pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery.
Tommy Vallotton received a sentence of 45 years with a minimum of ten years to be served before becoming eligible for parole. Vallotton pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery.

History: The three men were indicted by a grand jury for the August 1, 2023 death of 44-year-old Jeremy Jones on College Avenue after beating and repeatedly pistol-whipping him.
