The City of Caldwell is aware of a law (HB 202) to remove state-level sanitation standards for public pools. The City plans to monitor its pool water sanitation levels this summer with multiple, daily in-person and automated system checks. In addition, we will utilize Southwest District Health to test our pool water at the beginning and end of each swim season to ensure it is safe for the public to use. This change in law will allow the city to have local authority so we can better regulate safety in our own community.

Pool Construction Project Updates

Update March 26, 2025

The City of Caldwell is proud to announce that significant progress has been made on the pool. The mechanical building is finally complete! After months of careful planning and construction, the backbone of the pool facility is ready to serve its purpose. Workers moved swiftly over the past few weeks to finalize the internal systems, ensuring that everything from the filtration pumps to the heating elements are in place and functioning perfectly. The air around the site buzzes with excitement as the finishing touches are applied.

By mid-April, plastering of the pool will begin, a key milestone that signals the project is nearing its grand opening. The pool's deep end is already transforming. The slide has been installed, tall and winding, waiting for the first thrill-seekers to ride down. The diving blocks are securely in place, positioned perfectly for anyone looking to dive into the cool, clear water. And perhaps the most exciting addition: the AquaZip’n, a modern take on the traditional water zip line, stretching across the deep end. Soon enough, it’ll be the go-to feature for those looking for a little more adventure in their swim.

Meanwhile, the bathhouse is coming along smoothly. Construction is progressing well, with the framework nearly completed. By May, everything should be in place for the finishing touches: changing rooms, spacious showers, and everything needed to make poolside moments comfortable and convenient.

To ensure the pool operates smoothly and safely once it opens, the team will be hiring for several important positions. Available roles will include shift managers, lifeguards, and swim instructors. These positions will be crucial in providing top-notch service and ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. If you’re passionate about swimming, safety, or teaching, this is the perfect opportunity to be a part of something exciting and new for the community. Jobs will be posted in the coming weeks here: Career Opportunities | City of Caldwell, Idaho.

Opening date is set for early summer, ideally in time for Memorial Weekend. We’ll have a clearer picture of the exact opening date by early May.

And in May, the excitement will ramp up even further. Registration for swim lessons will open, and soon after, reservations for private pool rentals will be available. People are already eagerly awaiting the chance to book the pool for their own special events, whether it's a birthday party, a family gathering, or just a private swim.

The countdown has begun. The community can almost taste the summer fun that awaits. With each passing day, the pool becomes more than just a project—it’s becoming a dream come true for everyone who’s been waiting for this moment. The anticipation grows, and the summer fun is just around the corner.

Update February 23, 2024

On August 15, 2023, the Caldwell City Council overwhelmingly authorized a bid from Beniton Construction to restore the Caldwell Pool. Construction is currently underway on a new mechanical room and renovating the current pool. The goal was to reopen the pool in the summer of 2024.

The new completion date is now late July (depending on the weather). This delay is due to several incidents, including weather and unknown utilities in the area that needed to be removed. Pools typically close just before school starts, making it difficult to find staff to work for the approximately two weeks the pool could now be open.

If the pool were to open for two weeks, the bathhouse would also need repairs, costing $44,000.

The existing bathhouse is set to be demolished in 2025 to make way for a new one.

The goal of the city is to open the pool in the summer of 2025. We fully understand what a valuable resource this is for our citizens, and we thank the community for their patience. The City recognizes the need for the pool in our community but we want to take the time to get this project done correctly to ensure we get a product that lasts.

History: The pool originally closed in 2021 after a routine inspection revealed an electrical problem, making it unsafe to operate, which also led to the discovery of a significant water leak under the deep end of the pool. Due to the accelerating costs of construction and repair, the Caldwell Pool remained closed through the 2023 season. Funds for rehabbing the current pool were included in the 2023 budget; however, construction expenses outpaced the anticipated costs of the project by more than one million dollars. The city began investigating every possible avenue to raise the funding needed to have a new and improved pool open for our citizens as soon as realistically possible.
