Multi-Alarm Vegetation Fire Near Containment in Caldwell City Limits

Firefighters continue to work a multi-alarm vegetation fire within the Caldwell city limits in the vicinity of Look Lane and Highway 26 at the Idaho Materials and Construction site.
The fire prompted a significant multi-agency response as dry vegetation and challenging fuel conditions contributed to fire spread. Initial reports indicated several structures were threatened by the advancing fire. Through aggressive firefighting tactics and rapid strategic decision-making, responding personnel successfully protected multiple properties and prevented structure loss. The fire impacted approximately 30 acres.
The Caldwell Fire Department was joined by crews from Nampa, Mid-Star Fire District, Wilder, Parma, Fruitland, Sand Hollow, Boise, Whitney Fire District, New Plymouth, Payette, and Caldwell Rural Fire District. Additional assistance was provided by our partners at the Bureau of Land Management, Canyon County Emergency Management, and Canyon County Paramedics.
At the height of the incident, approximately 80 personnel were assigned to the fire. The fire is currently nearing containment; however, firefighters are expected to remain on scene throughout the night working in medium to heavy fuels adjacent to the Boise River. Crews will continue extinguishing hotspots, strengthening containment lines, and monitoring for any potential flare-ups.
Personnel will likely patrol the fire area over the coming days until significant moisture or precipitation reduces the risk of rekindles. Resources will be released as conditions allow and operational needs decrease. Crews are expected to start being released by 10 p.m. today.
At this time, no firefighters or civilian injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
