Local school districts provide foundational education and career awareness opportunities, helping students prepare for post-secondary pathways. Caldwell offers a diverse range of educational options, including traditional public schools, charter schools, career-technical charter schools, alternative schools, and private institutions, serving students from preschool through 12th grade. Other options include faith-based schools, homeschool and online programs. Families can choose from highly rated charter schools like Thomas Jefferson Charter and Vision Charter, and comprehensive high schools such as Caldwell Senior High and Vallivue High School, with opportunities for advanced placement, career technical education and community partnerships.  These districts focus on preparing students to succeed in postsecondary education or enter the workforce with strong foundational skills.

Caldwell is home to College of Idaho and Treasure Valley Community College, providing a strong local foundation for talent development. College of Idaho - Ranked #1 among Idaho's Colleges and Universities (Forbes list of "America's Top Colleges)

The College of Idaho is a private liberal arts college and the oldest private four year institution in Idaho, founded in 1891. It enrolls around 1,000+ students and emphasizes personal, rigorous, and interdisciplinary education.   Students aiming for post graduate study or prestigious national awards may pursue competitive fellowships such as Rhodes Scholarship, Fulbright Grants, Gates Cambridge Scholarship, Goldwater Scholarship (for STEM research leaders), NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, and Truman Scholarship (for future public service leaders).  These awards support advanced study, research, or professional development after completing a degree.

Treasure Valley Community College

A satellite campus of Oregon's TVCC has provided a progressively diverse range of courses to southwest Idaho residents since 2003. Students at the Caldwell Center are typically enrolled in courses leading to a degree, with the majority of students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university in Idaho or Oregon.

College of Western Idaho

The College of Western Idaho (CWI), located approximately 12.7 miles east of Caldwell, is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation, offering a wide range of education programs designed to meet diverse student goals, including academic degrees & transfer programs, career technical & workforce training, adult education & GED prep, workforce development & short-term training. CWI serves tens of thousands of students across credit and non credit programs, making it one of Idaho’s largest community colleges.

Boise State University

Boise State University (BSU), located approximately 28 miles east of Caldwell, is a major public doctoral research university located in Boise, Idaho and is Idaho’s largest university.  Boise State offers more than 200 undergraduate majors, approximately 74 master's programs, and about 15-17 doctoral programs, including education, engineering, health sciences, business, and more. BSU provides online degree options and extended studies throughout Idaho, allowing flexibility for non traditional students and working adults. BSU supports career planning and professional development from the first year through graduation, connecting students to local and regional employers across industries such as tech, healthcare, business, engineering, and public service. Boise State’s location in the region provides students with access to internships and partnerships in government, tech, healthcare, arts, and outdoor recreation sectors. The university contributes to the local and state workforce by preparing graduates with credentials and skills in high demand fields that align with regional economic needs.

University of Idaho

The Boise campus, located approximately 28.2 miles east of Caldwell, centers on programs in law, architecture, engineering, education, and business—fields closely aligned with Idaho’s economic and civic sectors. Many offerings are structured for working professionals, with evening, hybrid, and online options. It also houses research and outreach units tied to environmental sciences, community planning, and water resource management.

Idaho State University (Meridian Campus)

The Meridian campus, located approximately 19 miles east of Caldwell, offers more than 30 undergraduate and graduate programs, many in health-related fields such as pharmacy, nursing, physician assistant studies, counseling, and other allied health professions; some programs are offered online or in hybrid formats to serve working adults.

Northwest Nazarene University (NNU)

Northwest Nazarene University, located approximately 12.8 miles east of Caldwell, serves over 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students, more than 6,000 continuing education students, and over 10,000 high school students through the concurrent credit program.  NNU offers over 60 undergraduate majors and a range of graduate and doctoral programs in education, business, nursing, and theology.
